Practice Radiotelephony in a Realistic Environment
Generate randomised flight plans complete with airway routing and navigation card generation. Thus adding a realistic route for you to fly. This will allow you to use names of places, refer to the routing, waypoints, navigation aids headings, tracks and most importantly correct ETAs, as you would in the real world.
Generate a set of frequencies, (also randomised) to force you to use different frequencies regularly, as this is what you will do in the real world. This includes VHF, HF, Transponder and SELCAL codes.
Show real-time animated flight parameters on a standard 6-Pack or EFIS display, as you would see in your aircraft. This allows you to refer to actual parameters in your responses to ATC calls. Without such a capability, you would be imagining these and you would not give realistic calls. After all not only are you practising for an exam, but also for the real world.
A large set of calls can be practised. The ATC calls are generated using human-like voices. This is as close as you can get to practicing with a real person opposite you. The spoken words are also shown in text form and your expected responses are also shown in text form as a prompt to help you learn rapidly. All these can be downloaded later as a text file for learning separately.
When you are finally ready, a huge database of randomised scenarios can be tested to see how well you are performing and see your improvement over time in your ability to handle emergent and varying emergent situations.

B-737 Type Rated Instructor & IAF CAT-A Qualified Flying Instructor
Radiotelephony is being taught by many institutions and schools, however, I opine that it is best learnt from a pilot from the world of commercial airlines with extensive flying experience and a type rated instructor. For such a person will have the necessary knowledge and practical experience to teach a subject matter in which he has been actively involved in, on a daily basis. The fact that he is a Type Rated Flying Instructor means that the aviation regulator has at some stage verified his knowledge, experience, skills and instructional ability and has certified him as such.
In the past, I have seen the curriculum being taught by various agencies and noticed that a lot of superfluous information was being taught and the essentials are being missed out as a result. This was probably because, either the people conducting the course wanted to generate extensive study material to add ‘meat’ to the course or for the sheer lack of understanding of the what is really required to be known and understood as far as radiotelephony is concerned. As most of the people conducting such courses are not pilots, they are not in tune with the actual conduct of radiotelephony from and within a flight deck and not in touch with the current changes in regulations with respect to radiotelephony that take place to mitigate communication breakdowns. In this course by virtue of the fact that a Type Rated Instructor with extensive flying experience has formulated this course, you can be assured that these concerns are well addressed. Great care and attention has been given to make this course content useul and practical. Most importantly, the greatest value addition, is that this course has a realistic radiotelephony simulator included. Which will allow you to practice giving and receiving radio calls. All of it in your own time, at your own pace, in the comfort of your home.
As a standalone course, the primary advantages are that , Firstly, The course content is formulated and written in a very precise and concise language. Thus there is no scope for ambiguity in what is being stated and taught. Secondly, the course material is always available, so there is no fear that you will lose out, as in the case of you missing a class in a regular school. Thirdly, the teaching is self-paced. You learn at your own schedule. No pressure, absorb as much as you can when and where you want to. Fourthly you pay a small fraction of the money you pay for a regular class. Fifthly, you save lots of time and money in transiting to and from attending a classroom session, which could be better spent learning.
In short Yes !! Understand the following. The course content has been very carefully selected and the wording used throughout the course is such as to avoid any ambiguity in understanding. But should you seek clarity, firstly check the existing FAQ, as its possible that your query may have been answered earlier. If I find what has been asked, demands an addition to the course content, I shall add it to the course. If I find that question demands re-phrasing of words used in the course, I shall do so. Post that action, I shall endeavour to answer the question via the course FAQ page. I will normally not take more than about 2 days to do so unless I am away on a trip or expedition and thus incommunicado. If that is to happen I shall let it be known on the website as a post of some sort.
